Refunds, Delivery & Cancellation

What you are buying

Indiewright sells digital editions — narrated audiobooks, eBooks, illustrated editions, podcast and serial episodes — opened inside the Indiewright app. There is no physical product and nothing is shipped.

You buy one edition, or one bundle, at a time, with your card. There is no balance to load first and no credit to spend down. Each purchase is its own charge, for a total you are shown and confirm before it happens.

Delivery

Delivery is immediate. The edition you bought opens as soon as the payment clears, usually within seconds. There are no shipping methods, times, rates or destination restrictions, because nothing is physically delivered.

Nothing is charged for what you already own. Buying a bundle that includes an edition you bought before deducts what you paid for it, and buying the same edition twice is refused rather than charged.

If you are charged and the edition does not open, that is our problem to fix, not yours to absorb. Write to support@indiewright.com and we will correct it or refund you in full.

Refunds

A digital edition is delivered in full and immediately, and its creator is credited at the moment of sale. So purchases are final after 24 hours — but inside that window you can refund a purchase yourself, from your library, without asking anyone and without giving a reason.

Beyond the 24 hours we will still refund a purchase in any of these cases, and you do not have to argue for it:

A refund returns the price of the edition to your card, reverses the creator's share of that sale, and closes the access it granted. Your bank typically posts the credit within 5–10 business days. Refunding one edition never affects another edition you bought, and a refunded edition can be bought again later — a refund is not a ban.

Card processing is not refundable

The amount charged to your card is the edition price plus card processing, itemised separately before you pay. That processing charge is paid to the card networks and is not returned to us, so it cannot be returned to you. The price of the work always is.

The exact figures are shown to you before you buy, and again before we process a refund. If a charge was our error — a double charge, a payment that granted nothing, an edition that never opened — we return the processing charge as well, because that one is on us.

Cancellation

Indiewright does not require a subscription to read, listen or publish, so there is usually nothing to cancel. Nothing recurs: every purchase is a one-off charge.

If you hold an optional creator plan, you can cancel it at any time from Account settings, with no cancellation fee and no notice period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and your work stays published.

Accounts banned for misconduct

If your account is banned for breaking the Code of Conduct, purchases already made are not refunded. What a ban removes is access to Indiewright, and with it access to the editions bought here — not the money, which has already been paid to the creators whose work was bought.

Creator earnings are treated separately: earnings from violating conduct are reversed and returned to the people they came from, and earnings from work genuinely sold to real buyers are still paid out.

Every ban can be appealed, and a successful appeal restores the account and everything in it — see Appeals. Nothing is destroyed while an appeal is open.

Closing your account

You can close your account at any time. Any creator earnings you have accrued are paid out to your connected account, including amounts below the usual $50 threshold. We do not keep money because someone left.

Unauthorised charges

If you see a charge from Indiewright you did not make, contact support@indiewright.com immediately. We will refund it in full and secure the account. You do not need to establish anything first, and we would rather refund a charge in good faith than have you fighting a dispute over it.

Your statutory rights

Nothing here removes rights you have under the law where you live. Consumers in the UK and EU have a statutory right to cancel a purchase of digital content within 14 days; that right is waived when you agree to immediate delivery and acknowledge the waiver at checkout, which is how instant access is possible. If you believe a statutory right applies to your purchase, tell us and we will honour it.

How to reach us

Email support@indiewright.com. A person replies, usually within one business day. Full contact details are on the Contact page.
